COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Hearts around Colorado and the nation are injuring and grieving the loss of 5 lives in a mass shooting in a LGBTQ+ clubin Colorado Springs
Hundreds appeared outdoors All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in Colorado Springs for a community vigil on Sunday early morning. The church was standing-room just, so organizers held the vigil in waves to stay up to date with need.
Gov. Jared Polis and his other half, Marlon Reis, talked to the crowd through Zoom.
” My heart breaks,” stated Polis, who just recently checked favorable for COVID-19. Polis spoke to the owners of Club Q today. He explained the bar as a safe house “in a location where it hasn’t constantly been simple” for individuals in the LGBTQ+ community.
Club Q owners Nic Grzecka and Matthew Haynes spoke at the vigil.
“Club Q does not have consumers,” Haynes stated. “Club Q has household and community.”
A minimum of 5 individuals were eliminated and another 25 hurt in the attack at Club Q prior to midnight, Saturday Nov. 19. Colorado Springs authorities state a t least 2 individuals at the club stopped the shooter, who is now in custody at the healthcare facility.
