Red Wings’ Jakub Vrana enters NHL/NHLPA’s player assistance program


Detroit Red Wings forward Jakub Vrana will be not available from the group for an indefinite duration “while he gets care from the player assistance program of the NHL and NHLPA,” the NHL and NHL Players Association revealed Wednesday.

Vrana will continue to be paid while he gets treatment through the jointprogram Vrana can go back to the Red Wings when he is cleared for on-ice play by the program administrators. The care administered to Vrana remains in accordance with the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program.

The NHL and NHLPA began the player assistance program in 1996. The collectively moneyed program helps gamers and their households with psychological health, drug abuse and other matters.
